UPDATE 12/3/20: Subaru has announced that the 2021 Crosstrek Hybrid, which is EPA-rated at 35 mpg and 90 MPGe, starts at $ 36,395. It will arrive in the U.S. this winter.
Subaru has given the Crosstrek a sportier appearance for the 2021 model year along with a new Sport model that’s powered by a more potent 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The base model Crosstrek starts at $ 23,295, with the more powerful Sport starting at $ 27,545.
The base model is powered by a 2.0-liter boxer-four, and it’s paired with a standard six-speed manual transmission. Opting for the continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) jumps the base model’s starting price to $ 24,645. Those models come equipped with a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, keyless entry, automatic climate control, and more.
One step up from the base Crosstrek is the Premium model, which adds heated seats, a six-speaker audio system, and leather-covered steering wheel and shifter. It also comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, and it starts at $ 24,345. Upgrading to the CVT raises the price to $ 25,695. Premium models equipped with the CVT can also get an option package for $ 1995 that adds a power moonroof, blind-spot detection with lane-change and rear cross-traffic alerts, a six-way power driver’s seat, and push-button start.
The biggest update to the Crosstrek for the 2021 model year is the addition of the 182-hp 2.5-liter boxer-four—that’s 30 more horsepower than the standard 2.0-liter. That engine is available on the top Sport and Limited trims, which start at $ 27,545 and $ 29,045. The Sport model gets the same equipment package as the Premium, but it’s slightly cheaper at $ 1600. The Limited gets a host of styling updates over the other trim levels such as black 18-inch wheels and a black or gray leather interior with orange stitching. A moonroof is available on the Limited model for $ 1000 along with a $ 2395 option package that adds an 8.0-inch touchscreen with TomTom navigation and a Harman/Kardon sound system.
The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, including the more powerful Sport and Limited models, goes on sale later this summer. The 2021 model starts a little over $ 100 more than the outgoing 2020 model.
