Ford Performance is now offering an upgrade kit for 2018–2020 Mustang GT models that takes the 5.0-liter V-8 up a notch. For a total of $ 1275 before installation, it adds 19 horsepower and 18 lb-ft of torque, taking the V-8 up to 479 horsepower and 448 lb-ft of torque.
The kit includes a cold air intake and the upgraded throttle body from the Mustang Bullitt, along with an adapter for that throttle body. It also comes with a software recalibration kit that plugs in to the OBD-II port and is said to improve throttle response and change the shift mapping for the 10-speed automatic transmission (the kit is available for both manual-transmission and automatic-transmission Mustang GTs).
This kit essentially takes the standard Mustang GT’s 460-hp 5.0-liter V-8 up to the level of the 480-hp Mustang Bullitt, but for less money, as the Bullitt starts more than $ 12,000 higher than the cheapest GT model. And because these are Ford Performance parts, Ford includes a three-year/36,000-mile warranty with this upgrade kit if you get it installed by a Ford dealer or a certified technician.
