The 2020 Civic Type R is updated with a revised suspension and brakes, modified styling inside and out, and the addition of standard driver-assist features. It’ll also get a a new Honda LogR data logging application, accessible through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, that displays vehicle information, records lap times, and monitors braking, acceleration, and steering.

Honda LogR has three main functions: a performance monitor, log mode, and auto score. Each of these modes is displayed on the Type R’s infotainment screen, and unlike aftermarket data logging apps, Honda’s LogR app takes data straight from the Type R’s onboard computer.
The performance monitor provides vehicle information such as oil temperature, intake air temperature, and gear position to the driver. It also has a separate G-Meter tab. Log mode records lap times via GPS and can track the driver’s best lap time at any given track. The auto-score function has five evaluation points: acceleration, straight, deceleration, turning, and composite. These points combined generate a driving smoothness score for the driver to analyze and improve aggressive driving performance.
The Honda LogR app is exclusive to the 2020 Honda Civic Type R and is expected to be available for download this spring.
