New Nissan Z Will Officially Debut September 15

  • Nissan has confirmed that the new Z will debut September 15.
  • A prototype version will be shown first, but the production car shouldn’t be far off.
  • We expect the Z to be called 400Z and use a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V-6 engine.

The long wait for a new version of the Nissan Z is almost over. Nissan will officially show a prototype version of the sports car on September 15. That means the production Z35-generation car can’t be too far off.

Nissan first teased the new Z a few months ago, showing its silhouette in a video alongside many other upcoming Nissan models. We expect it to be called 400Z and for it to be powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 engine producing around 400 horsepower. A manual transmission is a must in our view, although an automatic may be offered as well.

The latest teaser video focuses on the Z’s long history, which has included such legendary models such as the 240Z of the 1970s and the 300ZX of the early 1990s. Nissan will surely play up the Z’s heritage when the new car debuts the evening of September 15. We’ll have more details to bring you about live-streaming options for the reveal soon.
