  • Mercedes-AMG has released a first look at the top-of-the-line GT Black Series rear-wheel-drive sports car starring automotive YouTuber Shmee150.
  • We expect that the top-dog GT will be powered by a new version of AMG’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter V-8 producing upward of 700 horsepower.
  • We should be getting full details on the GT Black Series within the coming weeks.

Mercedes-AMG’s GT rear-wheel-drive sports car is getting an aggressive Black Series sendoff with a more powerful engine and a massive wing, and it will make the GT even more track capable than the GT R and GT R Pro. We’ve already seen the GT Black Series testing its track capabilities on the Nürburgring, where we expect it to post a lightning-quick time, and now AMG has released this teaser video starring popular automotive YouTuber Shmee150.

The GT R and GT R Pro models are powered by AMG’s twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 producing 577 horsepower, and they are already seriously track-capable cars. The GT R currently holds a spot in the top 10 on our all-time Lightning Lap leaderboard, where we lapped it around Virginia International Raceway’s Grand course in 2:43.4. The coming GT Black Series will be the top dog, though. It will be even more of a track monster and is expected to be powered by a new version of AMG’s twin-turbo 4.0-liter producing upward of 700 horsepower.

The GT Black Series will have a lower and larger front grille with extra aero and added air intakes along with a new two-tone hood with a middle air scoop and vents. We can also see that the side louvers are much deeper compared to the GT R and GT R Pro. The best view is from the back, though, with wide rear fenders, thin taillights, and diffuser with quad-tip exhaust. And you definitely can’t miss the behemoth wing out back that looks like it was stripped right off a GT3 race car.

Expect to hear more about the Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series in the coming weeks. It’ll be the top-of-the-line GT model as well as its sendoff, so expect production to be limited with a starting price well over $ 200,000.
